Is it true I need an alignment every time I get new tires? It seems like I always have an extra something to purchase whenever I take my car into any shop.
No, alignments may be required, but I will let you know if you after I examine the tire wear pattern. It is all to often shops want to sell you something you don't need. I feel that is why I am unique because I will let you know if you need to make a visit to your mechanic but I am here to take care of your tires because YOU came to me for TIRE service!

Can poor alignment cause my car to shake?
Alignment does not directly cause a car to "shake or shimmy". If a tire has excessive wear because of a poor alignment, then yes your car may shake. Over 90% of my experience diagnosing vibration I found problem directly directly related to poor wheel balance, bent rims, or a tire condition.

How often should I rotate my tires?
I like to rotate tires every other or every third oil change. It's an easy way to keep track. Rotating tires is to maximize even tire life around the vehicle and so to rotate too often you can waste your money and not enough, well you can end a tires life sooner than you had hoped...

A friend from work was impressed that you always torque lug nuts on customers vehicles. Is it necessary? I have never seen shops do anything but use air guns.
Yes, I feel it is necessary for several reasons. #1. I know that the lugs are tight enough to be safe, #2. I know they are not too tight (so you can get them off if you need to), #3. It can prevent vehicle brake pulsation due to over tightening. I lightly install the lugs with my impact for efficiency and then provide the remainder of torque by hand using a torque wrench.
